5 out of 5 stars Really neat!   December 28, 2006

This is really neat. It lights up and spins and all that good stuff. The "comet maker" is really only a tiny flashlight... and be prepared to put some pretty good size holes in your ceiling... but it is a great thing to watch and very educational when used with the soundtrack.

5 out of 5 stars Neat   January 4, 2007

Planets rotate on 2 tracks to give the illusion that the planets are all moving at different speeds (an effective illusion).

It would have been nice if the ring of Saturn were semi translucent plastic rather than cardboard.

Since Pluto has been downgraded from planetary status you can perhaps hang the Star Trek Enterprise orbiting the outer solar system, the Borg cube, or the Death Star (the geek potential is high with this...)

5 out of 5 stars best inexpensive solar system model we could find   February 13, 2010

The batteries last a long time (if you don't use it too much)

Due to the way the planets are made, they are more realistic-looking than other models (plastic printed planet details are shrink-wrapped over plastic balls)

Model is not to scale (but making them to scale would be very difficult). I wish the wires that the planets were on were a little longer so the planets would be a bit further apart (but we may be able to buy some longer wires and retrofit them).

My 5 year old daughter got this for Christmas and she loves it. She turns it on before bed and enjoys watching the planets go around. It is not too loud.

5 out of 5 stars Great find!   January 12, 2008

My son received this for Christmas and it really is awesome. The planets are proportionately sized and in order from the Sun out. The 15 minute video that accompanies the mobile is also great, very educational without too much extra information. My son has learned a lot and at 5 can tell you some fact about each planet, their sizes from smallest to largest and in what order they fall from the Sun - all from this toy! I'm not sure there is a better way to learn while playing with respect to planets for little ones.

5 out of 5 stars Planets are great   March 5, 2010

My grandson who is just turning 6 loves his planets. He has not complained about the sound and I was worried about the quality when I ordered it but I am satisfied with this.
